Management Team

 

 

Bryan Y. Williamson, MBA, CMPE, & President

 

Bryan graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.A. in Finance, International Relations and Chinese.  He received his MBA from the University of Southern California.  He is also credentialed as a Certified Practice Management Executive (CMPE) through the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA).

 

Prior to forming MEDEX Practice Solutions, Bryan was a Sr. Administrator for St. Joseph’s Medical Resources, a regional MSO he helped form in 1993.  His primary responsibilities included the development and management oversight of the business and operations for 46 newly formed practices including administration of a 14 member primary care group in Merced, CA.  Previously, as Director of Physician Services for the St. Joseph’s Regional Health System, Bryan managed the recruitment and integration process for 28 new physicians to San Joaquin County and played a key role in organizing, implementing and managing the successful start-up of a 22 member primary care group in Stockton, CA.

 

Bryan began his career in practice business management as a Sr. Consultant for the Camden Group in Los Angeles.  He negotiated the acquisition of 18 practices and set up 85 new solo and small group practices in turn-key offices.  In addition, Bryan facilitated the strategic planning, development and management for 5 primary care centers in Southern California, including 3 timeshare medical offices.  

 

 

 

Michael P. McGann, Vice President, Operations

 

Mike received his Accounting Degree from Brigham Young University.  Prior to joining MEDEX Practice Solutions, Mike was the Finance Manager at AllCare IPA in Modesto, CA, with responsibility for finance, including payments to over 450 physicians within the network.  Prior to his experience with AllCare, Mike worked as the Director of Operations at PrimeCare IPA in Turlock, with responsibility for claim and capitation payments to the 200+ physicians within the network. 

 

Mike has worked as a Financial Analyst and Electronic Claims Specialist for St. Joseph’s Medical Resources.  He has worked with physicians over a large area of the central valley establishing connectivity for electronic claims submissions to the St. Joseph MSO.  Mike has also served as the Controller for several companies in the central valley.  He has an extensive knowledge of healthcare accounting and finance.

 

 

Phyllis Waters, Operations Manager

 

Phyllis began her medical billing career in 1984 with a large Family Practice Group in Modesto, CA.  The group consisted of eight family practice physicians, three general surgeons, an orthopedic surgeon, and two registered nurse practitioners.  In this assignment, Phyllis gained extensive experience in virtually all aspects of medical practice billing, including Medicare, Medi-Cal, PPO, HMO, Capitated Plans, Workers Compensation, Third Party and Private Pay.

 

Prior to joining MEDEX, Phyllis worked at National Health Plans.  During her four years with NHP, she was Team Lead in the Member Services Department and later promoted to Service Representative in the Provider Relations Department which included working closely with providers and patients resolving more serious complaints, claims and eligibility issues.

 

At MEDEX, Phyllis oversees the day to day accounts receivable management department.  She supervises seven team leaders and has a total of forty billing specialists reporting to her.

 

Stephen F. Hammarstrom, MHA - Senior Consultant

 

Steve graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Sociology and from Chapman University with a Masters of Health Care Administration degree and is a Franklin Covey certified personal coach.

 

Steve brings to MEDEX a varied and impressive background in business start-up, development, management, teaching, training and personal coaching.   Steve’s last position was with Franklin Covey in the personal and business coaching division coaching students in personal development, real estate and investment strategies.  Earlier experience focused on the recruitment of sales representatives for a national company where Steve’s primary responsibilities included, hiring and training, team building, sales training and customer service and retention. 

 

Steve’s business and staff training experience have given him the tools necessary to provide quality training and consultative services to physicians in all aspects of their private practice including the implementation of electronic medical records (EMR) systems technology.   Steve’s primary responsibility with MEDEX is to manage the company’s consulting division, practice assessments and client/vendor relations.

 

 

 

David B. Webber,  Business & Strategic Development

 

David graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in International Relations and Economics.

 

Prior to joining MEDEX, David was Vice President Sales & Marketing at GetProof, a leading medical credentialing software company.  David was responsible for market development and customer relations, helping to coordinate implementation and integration of software with +200 hospital clients using diverse information systems. David has provided business and strategic development expertise to various medical software and service companies as well as to the health savings account industry. 

 

A former CEO of an +$18 million private chemical sales company, David brings to MEDEX +20 years senior management experience in customer relations, market penetration, operational improvement, business development, strategic planning and international business.   He is fluent in Spanish.

 

David’s primary responsibility is to establish MEDEX as the leading provider of multiple services to hospitals and physician groups wishing to enter the rapidly expanding convenient care (retail clinic) marketplace. He is also responsible for developing and implementing regional growth strategies and assessing new product offerings.  

Leigh C. Cornell, MHA - Practice Consultant

 
Leigh  completed undergraduate degrees in Communications and Biology then completed a Master's degree in Healthcare Administration  all at the University of Southern California.  
 
Upon completion of her studies, Leigh spent several years working with a large community hospital in Southern California where she was responsible for physician recruiting and retention.  She has also worked in rehabilitation services overseeing the fiscal operations of a physical and occupational therapy business.
 
At Medex, Leigh oversees the Southern California region for new physician practices and business plan creation.
